Ancient sunglasses
These ancient sunglasses only
remotely resemble their modern counterparts, but they were made for the same
purpose. The design of the sunglasses, the small eye holes, for instance, was
to protect the eyes from an extensive sunlight. Oftentimes the glasses were
used in the winter time when the sun glare becomes more bright during snowy
days. Mostly, people from the arctic regions of Canada used them.

first Swiss Army Knife
Here you can see a Swiss Army Knife from
the times of the Roman Empire dating back to 200 AD.Thistool was found in the
Mediterranean in the 90s. But it has no corkscrew or screwdriver like modern

3,000 years ago, the first ever prosthetic wooden toe was
buried with a mummy. The prosthetic device belonged to a woman, and she
probably lived between 950 BC and 710 BC. This toe is now an example of the
oldest device of this kind.

This tooth was
from a lower jaw of a man who died 6,500 years ago. The canine was repaired
with such subtlety that the scientists did not notice it at first. The beeswax
was discovered only after re-examination a century after they first found it.
Yet, this is not the oldest dentistry in the world. One of the most ancient
dental work dates back to 14,000 years
ago when a young man's tooth was drilled out.
7. The
oldest hymn

"Hurrian" language are the oldest pieces of musical art. They were
discovered in Syria where the ancient city of Ugarit once stood. One of the
tablets contains a hymn – the oldest jotted down music in the world. It's
interesting to know that it also includes instructions as to how the musician
should play it.
6. The first "flushing" toilets
A Turkish city of Ephesus could once (first century AD to be
precise) boast public toilets almost as good as some modern ones. Three long
benches were equipped with 36 holes.
The most amazing part of the design was, of course, the fact that there was
running water under the seats that help get rid of the dirty business.

the world. There is not enough information about it yet, but archaeologists
think it dates to 7000 BC, a pre-ceramic Neolithic era.

The most ancient piece of Earth is zircon from Australia. It was
unearthed 17 years ago near Perth, Western Australia. This zircon is
a nesosilicate mineral and is believed to be the oldest mineral ever.
3. A five-and-a-half-millennia-old shoe
This slipper-like leather shoe was
found in a cave in Armenia. A 5,500 years old footwear was stuffed with grass
and covered with a sheep waste. which helped to preserve it well. The right
foot shoe is size 7 in the US and belonged to a woman.

5,000 year old chewing gum
Chewing gum was also popular among the Neolithic people of
Finland. A British student discovered a piece of birch bark tar some 5,000
years old at the excavation site in 1993. The Neolithic people
believed that birch tree tar had antiseptic qualities and could treat teeth and
gum-related infections.

millennia old bracelet
In 2008, Russian
archeologists discovered what it is thought to be the oldest piece of jewelry
in the world - some 70,000 years old
bracelet. It was unearthed in a cave in Siberia and believed to
belong to humans of Denisovan culture. The bracelet has drilled holes
-scientists still cannot explain how a culture that is almost 100,000 years old
could have a drilling technology that would not have been developed until at
least late Neolithic period. Nevertheless, the bracelet is made of chlorite
that gives it an exceptionally beautiful green color.

5,000-year-old hugging lovers
The Lovers of
Valdaro, or the "Valdaro Lovers," were discovered at a
Neolithic tomb in San Giorgio near Mantua, Italy. Archaeologists immediately
established the fact that one of these skeletons is male and the other is
female. Also, they both were no older than 20 years old when they were buried.
The burial was estimated to be between 5,000 and 6,000 years ago. The cause of
death of the couple is still unclear, but scientists can definitely say that
there was no evidence of a violent death.
